What is Ambit Energy MLM?
Ambit Energy MLM delivers electricity and natural gas solutions in deregulated energy markets across the USA as well as to a few international markets.
The company mainly supplies retailed electricity services through a direct sales channel of Independent Consultants.
More than 600,000 Independent Consultants have actually joined the business to pursue the Ambit Opportunity. Not only can they earn residual income, but they can also earn free energy by referring customers.
The beginning of this company began with an impromptu lunch conference in the spring of 2006. During that lunch, two gentlemen discussed energy deregulation while eating turkey sandwiches.
The two were Chris Chambless and Jere Thompson, and as they discussed the future of energy.
Both Thompson and Chambless were excited about the opportunity, and so began their journey to construct “the finest and most-respected retail energy provider in America.”
Their brand-new venture would supply budget-friendly electricity and gas, cut consumer energy costs, and agreed that their company would never ever compromise integrity for financial gains.
The two partners set out to create a new company right away, and within a few weeks, Thompson and Chambless started a business in a big, remodeled warehouse in the historic West End district of downtown Dallas.
In 2010, Inc. magazine named Ambit Energy as the fastest-growing company in the U.S., and they continue to pick up steam as the fastest-growing business in the retail energy sector today.
Renewable Energy & Free Energy Trends

If you are seeking a company to invest your time and money in, you must know its business foundation.
According to the Ambit Energy documentation, they are dedicated to providing 100% renewable energy solutions for its customers across the USA and other parts of the world.
Renewable energy and free energy are both quickly growing across the globe. For more than a decade, Ambit Energy MLM has helped its customers reduce their energy bills and save money.
So when you consider this information in light of recent trends, Ambit Energy is a company that has the potential to do great things for its customers.
What am I talking about? In the United States, more and more homeowners are turning towards green energy (solar) every year.
They are opting to do so because of surging electricity costs that have been caused by coal and nuclear power plant closures.
This means less money is spent on energy sources that produce pollution or are not renewable.
This also means more people will start to invest in renewable energy and free energy, and they will do so by using Ambit Energy.
Are Ambit Energy Plans Worth Its Price?
Currently, there are sixteen states where energy deregulation has allowed Ambit to provide its services.
These states are Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, Texas, and California.
On the international front, the Ambit MLM has expanded to the countries Canada and Japan. I think this is a good thing if you are looking for a business opportunity that helps you earn some residual income.
Tapping into these markets has brought over 85 potential customers that as an Ambit consultant, you could enroll and provide services to
As far as the price of their service plans, they differ from state to state. There are several plans offered by Ambit Energy MLM.
They are the Secure Savings, Lone Star Plus, Lone Star Classic, Lone Star Basic, Lone Star Flex, and Summer Break.
Drilling down into these plans, you will see that they are primarily fixed-rate plans.
The Fixed-rate plan allows you the opportunity of having your costs locked in for a set period of time without worrying about changes due to an amortization schedule.
Depending on the state you are in, the rate plans provide competitive prices and special deals, such as introductory rates that save up to 50% in the first month of service.
The contracts are typically drafted for 12 to 24-month contracts for either electrical power, gas, and/or solar services. And clients are normally locked into those plans for the duration.
The plans typically start out with a reduced price per kWh of energy used. I downloaded plan details from a 6-month term agreement in the state of Massachusetts.

If you look closely at the “Rescission Period“, you only get 3 days to cancel the contract without being charged. So, buyer beware, and look at the contract terms before you commit to something you wish you hadn’t!
The Ambit Energy MLM Opportunity
Ambit Energy MLM is a business model that makes money if you recruit customers to become consultants.
You make money with Ambit Energy by promoting plans to clients while recruiting them to become new marketing consultants.
This expands your network and permits you to go up the ladder to more management functions. When this occurs, you open the door to leadership bonuses.
Once they become Ambit Energy consultants (Independent or Marketing Consultants), they own their own “franchise” in the energy organization.
Independent Consultants construct their organizations by signing up consultants and consumers.
Ambit would like you to succeed and become a leader, which is possible through the successful application of their business strategy.
There are multiple ways to earn commissions with Ambit.
The structure includes rewards for not only building up your organization by collecting brand-new customers and consultants (which is common among MLMs) but also for simply referring consumers and friends.

This is more or less the Cliff Notes version of the Ambit Energy compensation plan. There are so much more and many levels to get into but I am not going to go into too much detail in this section.
However, I will leave you some resources that provide more detail:
Pros:
There are several reasons why Ambit Energy is a good MLM opportunity. First, check out the ambitenergy.com website for yourself.
This will give you knowledge about the company and let you see if you like them as much as their current clients do.
Fast Growing
The consumer interest in green and renewable energy has been on the rise for decades, and Ambit Energy is riding that wave with exponential growth.
This company is phenomenally successful because they offer competitive rates for the ever-growing population that demands electricity.
Easy Sell
Electricity is one of the most valuable resources on Earth because everyone needs it constantly; heating homes, powering up cars, operating medical equipment, or even just charging their cell phones when they’re running low- all rely on juice from an electrical outlet (pun intended).
With Ambit Energy, the products and services are simple enough yet effective enough to arouse interest from people who otherwise wouldn’t have thought about it before; basically, you just have to tell someone how Ambit Energy is cheaper with excellent customer service.
Commercial Opportunities
You are not limited to only selling electricity plans for homes. You can also sell them to small or large commercial businesses, which is an economical way of saving money on your monthly electric bill.
Cons
Even though Ambit Energy can be a big moneymaker, it does have its flaws. Don’t let these cons discourage you from joining – learn how to recognize and avoid them in order to continue growing your business.
Below are some issues I found while writing this Ambit Energy review:
Dissatisfied Clients
At first glance, Ambit Energy has an A+ rating on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website. But if you dig deeper, you will find that customer satisfaction isn’t very high.
Currently, there are 156 negative Ambit Energy reviews and over 200 Ambit Energy customer complaints on the BBB website, all reflecting the same issue.
Lots of complaints about being tricked and overcharged by Ambit Energy.
Mired in Lawsuits
As if having to deal with complaints wasn’t enough, they also had a class-action lawsuit that resulted in them reaching a settlement back in March of 2018.
Ambit Energy agreed to pay $26.5 million in settlement fees for a class-action lawsuit filed by many of their customers from New York who was overcharged on gas and electricity bills, including ones that signed up for the Guaranteed Savings Plan but then switched to another plan without consent resulting in an increase fee rate than originally discussed with this new plan.
In my opinion, the Ambit Energy MLM legal woes are a big deal because it concluded that the company did not provide full savings and free energy reimbursements to its customers.
Questionable Money Back Guarantee
It can be a tough decision to make when you have the opportunity or need to switch energy suppliers.
After all, that new company wants to make a good impression on you and make sure that they made the right choice in hiring someone like yourself who can be counted on to confidently take advantage of their services.
Whether it’s your insurance company or cable service- these are typically easy ways to avoid being stuck with bad customer service whilst ensuring smooth transitions into any future decision-making processes which may come up along the way.
As with changing cell phone providers or looking at other types of home security options outside of what is offered by just one particular provider. Many others out there vying for consideration when looked at side by side competitively speaking.
Ambit Energy ensures you will not be interrupted throughout the switch-over process. To have an assurance that your electrical energy service will not be interrupted throughout a changeover appears absurd to me.
They truly must consider guaranteeing they will not automatically sign you up for more expensive Ambit Energy services when your contract expires instead of just assuring consumers their power will remain on.
Is Ambit Energy a Scam?
It’s pretty clear that Ambit Energy is trying to recruit new distributors and make it sound like an opportunity.
They are persuasive, making the service seem almost like a responsibility you undertake when they say “provide them with an opportunity.”
It sounds nice on paper, but don’t forget about those class-action lawsuits! Questionable business practices may be common in MLM models so do your research before signing up as a distributor or customer.
Overall, is not a scam, even though they employ ethical business practices but then again, I don’t think it is worth your time and money. Especially if you have to recruit people.
In my opinion, affiliate marketing is a better business model.
Final Thoughts
Is Ambit Energy legit? There are many Ambit Energy reviews out there that try and answer this question but I think it really boils down to what your definition of “legit” is.
In my opinion, Ambit Energy is not a scam, but I also wouldn’t recommend them as a great opportunity. To earn money you have to work with a team to earn more sales on your income.
Unless you do things yourself you get to earn more from your workers unless they are able and capable to get more from them to get the customers you are selling for.
Working for yourself has many advantages. You do it yourself when and where you work on that schedule. In my experience, it’s not easy to become your own boss.
In fact, I’ve spent the past 9 years making that dream come true with help from a trusted learning platform.

FAQs
Is Ambit Energy Variable Rate?
Ambit Energy does have variable-rate plans, but it all depends on the state you live in. For example, in Texas, the Lone Star Flex is a variable rate plan.
What this means is that you are not obligated by a contract. Instead, you pay the market rate month-to-month.
While this sounds good, you wind up paying more because the Ambit energy ratings are not that great. Especially when compared to the Texas electricity ratings (Lone Star Flex) or that of any natural gas utility in your state.
How Many Customers Does Ambit Energy Have?
As of 2019, Ambit Energy has over one million energy customers enrolled. Although it is unclear how many of these individuals are actively using their services.
In addition, Ambit Energy has over 500,000 existing Ambit consultants.
How Do I Pick An Energy Plan?
Picking an energy plan from Ambit Energy is a pretty straightforward process.
-Go to the Ambit Energy website
-Select “Rates &Plans” on the homepage menu
-Enter your zip code
-Select either residential or commercial option and click “Show Me My Rates”
Once you have done this, the page will load to display both energy and solar services. Depending on which one you are looking for, select the energy provider to see the rate plans.
Was Ambit Energy Sold?
Back in August of 2019, there were several press releases that announced Ambit Energy was going to be sold to Vistra Energy for $475 million. This press release was made by the advisory company The Cypress Group LLC.
This purchase price is more than double of what Ambit Energy was valued back in 2018 when they were bought out by an MLP, thus lowering their overall value. It’s not hard to see why Vistra would want to invest in Ambit as opposed to a less popular, less established energy company.
However, I cannot find any evidence that Ambit Energy was sold. I have scoured the internet to see if there was an actual announcement of the sale, but I am coming up blank.
Even the press release section on the Ambit website does not have any details of a final sale. If you know any information regarding this topic, please comment below and fill me in!
